In fracking operations, saltwater disposal refers to the process of disposing of produced water (wastewater) generated during hydraulic fracturing by injecting it into deep, underground formations via specially designed wells. 

Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is a method used to extract oil and natural gas from shale rock formations by injecting a high-pressure fluid (water, sand, and chemicals) into the ground to create fractures and release the hydrocarbons.

During fracking, a significant amount of wastewater, often containing high concentrations of salt, is generated. This wastewater is known as produced water.
